Kapitaal wanted a space where they could host lectures and film screenings as well as a shop. They asked us to think of a solution for their idea.
We built a series of rectangular spruce plywood units with the same depth but different heights. When pushed against one wall, these units fit into a piece of built-in furniture that follows their outline and also creates a series of surfaces that act as shelves.
The shop looks dynamic and fills the room when open, yet one person can easily handle the transformation of the shop, moving it in and out. And when the furniture is slid against the wall and under the lid, all items are secure and the space again is wide open.
